Project Description
D-A-S Construction Co. was hired as the General Contractor for the renovation of two historic buildings on East Fourth Street in Downtown Cleveland which would become home to House of Blues. Construction began with the removal of 9,000 square feet of the old Woolworth buildings first floor to create two floors for the music hall and a mezzanine seating area which accommodates 1,200.

Transfer beams and structural columns were built to handle the installation while performing the demolition. The 300 seat restaurant portion of House of Blues was built into the Rainbow building. When work began in the long-unoccupied 1900's building, it began to fall apart because the brick and mortar had deteriorated over the years. The solution was to basically build a new building inside the old space with a new foundation and structural steel supports. The two floors above the restaurant houses the Foundation Room, a high-end club for members.

Being the largest procurement and display entity in outsider folk art, House of Blues interior design required fast-paced scheduling and careful coordination between subs who all needed to work in the space during the same four month period. The completed project includes state-of-the-art light and sound equipment, over 69 monitors throughout, a dance floor, six bars, and a special events concert hall. D-A-S Construction Co. managed to complete the space in just eight months - four months ahead of schedule!
